Nanophotonics group
We are a part of Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. Our general research interest is the Light and matter interactions. Some of our specific areas are as follows:
1.Nanomaterials synthesis & Optical Properties
We synthesise nanoparticles through some of the chemical method. Nanoparticles are varied from metallic system to semiconductor nanoparticles. Apart from this we do optical properties of carbon based nanosystems also. Our way of invsetigation is to study the size and shape dependent optical properties of nanomaterials and doping induced bandgap variation in semiconductors. Experimental wise we do X-ray diffraction, optical absorption and photoluminescence studie we do. Currently, we are preparing doped and un- doped ZnO, Co3O4, MgO, CuO nanoparticles. 2. Nonlinear Optics High intense Laser interaction with nanostructural materials is one of the important study in opto elctronics and Nanophotonics. Size and host dependent properties of nanosized metal and semiconductor clusters are very interesting in high intense nanosecond laser regime. Apart from this Intensity and frequency of exciting laser also plays a crucial in their nonlinear light transmitting property.
3. Laser-materials Spectroscopy

Glasses and Polymers are one of the fascinating Laser materials because of their compositional and dopant dependent properties. Rare earth ions incorporation in glasses and Polymers will make these materials are suitable for lasing action. Compositional dependent absorption and emission properties of RE ions are interesting.
